ROZEL – The senior class at Pawnee Heights School in Rozel is hosting its annual dinner theater on Saturday, Nov. 16. Classes eight through 12 have joined together to put on two one-act comedies by Keith Jackson.
Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The menu includes a garden salad, chicken fried steak, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, a dinner roll and a chocolate dessert. The two plays will begin at 7:30. This year’s seniors will be selling tickets, which sell for $15, or one can call the office and reserve a spot.
The first play is “Laffin’ School,” and the following is “Laffin’ School Reunion.” Both stories involve a rather interesting class of students that would probably make every teacher at Pawnee Heights want to resign immediately.
The stories take place in the Little Red Schoolhouse, with the substitute teacher (in the first play) and the new teacher (in the second) trying their level best to control amazingly awful students.
The plays were purchased from and are performed with permission of Pioneer Drama Service in Denver, Colorado. Once again, Midwest Energy out of Hays helped fund the purchase of all the books and all the royalty payments.
The cast and crew include Casey Spence, Megan Milch, Nichole McDonough, Chey Worthey, Scarlett Thompson, Heather Nuckolls, Darice Colglazier, Caleb Karst, Jayton Salmans, Nicole Roberts, Bailey Seltmann, Felicity Cedillo, Kiersten Baier, Allison Lupfer and Rayna Karst.
