Perez leads Larned Legion team to split

LARNED – Larned’s American Legion baseball team started with a four-run inning and broke a 4-4 tie with a five-run sixth inning to beat Dodge City 9-4 in Monday’s first game.
Dodge City won the second game 12-2. Larned (13-10) returns to Dodge City (21-12) for a 6 p.m. twin bill Wednesday. Pratt plays at Larned Friday.
Larned’s Isiah Perez delivered a pair of two-run hits to drive in four runs. Evan Skelton singled, Mason Schartz reached on an error and Landon Erway walked in the first inning. Tyler Stelter brought Skelton home with a sacrifice fly. Perez tripled home Schartz and Perez. Johnathon Herter doubled home Perez for a 4-1 lead.
Larned started its game-clinching rally when Camryn Bryant, Alex Barger and Gage Skelton loaded the bases. Schartz singled home Bryant for a 5-4 lead. Erway’s single brought Barger and Stelter’s single drove in Erway. Perez capped the rally with a two-run single that scored Schartz and Erway for a 9-4 lead.
Starter Trey Kraisinger earned the victory and Perez worked the seventh inning.
Dodge City’s Gideon Wells doubled home Dawson Davis in the first inning. Roman Galloway tripled and scored on Brandon Roy’s groundout in the second inning. Dayton McGroarty drove in Davis in the fifth inning for a 4-3 score.
Jackson Oldham tripled home Balderaz for a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning.

DODGE CITY 12, LARNED 4
 Dodge City batted 14 hitters and score nine third-inning runs. Mark Lewis and Jackson Oldham hit two-run doubles. Jhett Ostrom, Eric Reid and McGroarty hit RBI singles. Two other runs scored on an error and a passed ball. Lewis had three RBIs. McGroartyearned the victory.
Dodge City’s Wells doubled home Davis in the first inning. Lewis drilled an RBI double to bring home Galloway and scored on a double steal for a 3-0 lead.
Bryant scored Larned’s first run in the third inning. Evan Skelton singled home Herter in the fourth inning after a hit batter and two walks. Evan Skelton had two hits.
