Program on historic homes in area set for Nov. 21 at SFTC

The staff of the Santa Fe Trail Center invites the public to a program on historic buildings on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. in the museum. Dr. Merlene Baird will present a visual tour of historic homes in Kansas with an emphasis on houses close to the Larned area. Information will be given about keeping the buildings historic and well-preserved versus remodeled.

The Historic Homes in Kansas project has been an ongoing study for almost 20 years. Dr. Baird began gathering information while a professor of Art at Fort Hays State University. She is professor emeritus currently and continues to research all facets of Historic Homes.

Admission to this program and all third Sunday of the month programs is half price: Adults, $2, Students ages 12 to 18, $1.50, Children ages 6 to 11, 75 cents; Fort Larned Historical Society members, free.

The Santa Fe Trail Center is located two miles West of Larned on Highway K-156. Operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on Mondays from Labor Day until Memorial Day.
