The regular monthly meeting of the Welcome Inn Leisure Center Inc. was called to order by President Mona Marie Wysong, on Wednesday at 12:50 p.m. with the following members present: Charles Wonsetler, vice president; Betty Tauscher, secretary; Thelmarie Wilhite, historian, and Roger Haberman, reporter. Absent was Jim Forrest, treasurer. Also present was Marylee Phinney.

The treasurer’s report was reviewed and all bills were allowed.

September is National Senior Center Month. Several events are being planned. Come eat with us and live the good life. Free hugs are available all month at the Center! Actually, hugs are always available here.

The Wii games were up and running today, as on every Wednesday. Several of us played golf, ping pong and/or bowled. Mitchell Craft was assisting us but some third- and fourth-grade students will be coming in, sometime soon, to give us guidance. It is a lot of fun without having to do a lot of walking, lifting a bowling ball or what have you — just moving your arms or body, mainly. Other activities during September and October include:

Sept. 26 is the date of the Crop Walk and also our next ice cream social. The ice cream social held on Aug. 22 was another huge success. Information on the times of the Crop Walk and ice cream social will be coming out soon.

October 6 is the Annual Meeting and the election of members of the Board of Directors of the Welcome Inn. There are two candidates for each position. Please vote and then eat with us.

October 10 — At noon there will be a salad luncheon. More information on this later.

Mona Marie Wysong and Thelmarie Wilhite will host the carry-in dinner to be held on Sept. 12, which is also Grandparents Day. Gladys Salmans and Inez Geissel hosted the carry-in dinner held on Aug. 8. They had a very good turnout with a variety of good food and a lot of visiting.
