The regular pheasant hunting season begins this Saturday, Nov. 8, and continues through Jan. 31, 2015. Megan Hammeke at the Great Bend Recreation Commission reminds hunters that GBRC holds a Longest Tail Feather contest. The contest will run through the 2014-15 pheasant hunting season. The winner will receive a $30 Great Bend Chamber Gift certificate donated by Smokin Aces Gun Shop.
To enter, bring a tail feather to the GBRC office at 1214 Stone St. between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  All entries must be turned in by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.
