Teens who haven’t cracked a book open this summer should do so this week, if they want to participate in the biggest food fight of the summer.
The Great Bend Public Library’s Teen Spot will hold a food fight at 5 p.m. Friday, July 10, on the lawn in front of the library, at 1409 Williams St. Young Adult/Marketing Librarian Jennifer King said students in grades 7-12 are welcome, but they need to participate in the library’s summer program, “Unmask!” They will need 5 participation points and 2 reading points. To learn more about the requirements, talk to King at the library or visit the website, www.greatbendpl.info.
King provides the following pointers for food fighters.
• Wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
• Cover car seats with a towel for the ride home.
• Library staff have a hose available, but expect to “go home gross.”
The library’s final party for its summer programs will also be on the lawn, from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 17.
