The Prairie Godmothers, a Barton County organization known for “Women Helping Women,” will introduce a new grant/scholarship for the 2020 calendar year, said Melanie Calcara.

“This grant will be made available to females from Barton County who have been accepted to Barton Community College. It can be used toward tuition, books and other necessities related to educational expenses,” Calcara said. Details of this new opportunity are currently in the planning stage as the Prairie Godmothers Advisory Board work closely with Elaine Simmons, BCC vice-president of instruction.

The Prairie Godmothers plan to gather from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 22 at Dilly & Doc’s Creative Studio, 1119 Main. There will be a program 5:45 p.m. “All current members and their friends are invited to join us as we embark on this new adventure,” Calcara said. “Come join us for food, fun, fundraising and a great door prize!”
