United States Navy World War II veteran James Lofland was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on May 25, 2018, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Mr. Lofland served from 1944 to 1946, aboard the USS Starlight. The quilt top was made by Linda Shull; quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor.
