The Great Bend Recreation Commission and the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo are offering some great classes this summer. Classes will run from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the next three Thursdays, June 9, 16 and 23, at the zoo. They are open from children 7-12 years old.
June 9: Animal World & Habitats: Students will learn about animals, their wild counterparts and where they choose to live.
June 16: Zoo Enrichment. The animals at the zoo love play, but they need our help. During this enrichment program, partiipants will help the zookeepers brainstorm ideas on how to stimulate minds of the animals.
June 23: Order Up. Join program sponsors as they unravel the mysteries of the food web and discover how all the animals in the ecosystem rely on one another. Participants can become zoo chefs for a day, helping the staff prepare different meals for some of the animals.
Entry fee is $9 per class. Enroll at the Great Bend Recreation Commission office located at 1214 Stone Street or call 793-3755 ext. 2 for more information.
