A workshop targeting people who have or are caring for someone with a chronic condition is set to begin Thursday, March 1st. The six week long workshop will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays through April 5th, at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th Street. Local class leaders, John and Donna Krug, have completed the training through a partnership with KDHE and K-State Research and Extension. If you are currently living with or caring for someone with arthritis, diabetes, heart or lung disease, asthma, the effects of a stroke, or any other chronic condition on a daily basis, then this class is for you. You will learn techniques to help manage your chronic condition. Sessions focus on dealing with pain, the benefits of exercise, relaxation techniques, nutrition, using medications effectively and working with the health care system. For the $10 registration fee participants will receive a workbook and refreshments at each session. Call the Great Bend Recreation Center 793-3755 to register. If you have questions contact Donna Krug, at 793-1910.
