Agency D3 VBS allows kids to uncover truth

HOISINGTON — Agency D3 is the Vacation Bible School theme for kids next week at New Life Baptist Church, 364 W. 12th St. in Hoisington. It is for children as young as 4 years old, through those who have completed sixth grade. It will run from  6:30  to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Aug. 4-8 at the church.
The agents of D3 are trained to Discover, Decide and Defend.
While investigating at Agency D3, kids will collect and log evidence about the life of Jesus.  As “special agents,” they will examine eye witness reports, physical proof and biblical accounts to uncover and defend the truth about who Jesus really is.
Kids will begin their evening receiving vital information at Headquarters (the Worship Rally). Then the first stop will be at age-appropriate Bible study in the “Evidence Vault,” where they will uncover the answers to some common questions about Jesus. They will learn how to use the evidence to make decisions in their own lives and answer questions that others may put to them.
Music is a big part in reinforcing what they learn.  It is high impact and fun, while meaningful, sponsors said. Even recreation serves as a “training ground,” and, of course, like all headquarters, there is a break room for snacks.
“What kid doesn’t want to be a ‘special agent?’” asked Carol Smith, director.  “Of all the themes we have ever used, I think this one has ‘clicked’ the most.  They really get into it in a fun and meaningful way, and their memory of what we are learning is remarkable.”
Parents are welcome to visit at any time, but are especially encouraged to bring the entire family to Family Night, at 7:30 Friday, Aug. 8, when there will be a short program at the end of the evening session, followed by hot dogs, ice cream and cookies.
There is no charge for any child to attend, and everyone is welcome. For more information, call Carol Smith, 620-617-8535.
