Trinity United Methodist Church of Great Bend kicked off a coat drive on Aug. 26 in conjunction with its second annual Back to School Block Party.
Paige Lofland from the evangelism committee said the party consisted of bounce houses, volleyball and a free barbecue dinner for everyone who attended the city-wide event. Members of the Barton Community College men’s basketball team, led by coach Craig Fletchall, assisted members of the church.
The church is collecting coats and jackets which are being cleaned by Master Cleaners of Great Bend and Hays. These will be distributed from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the Master Cleaners parking lot, 4600 10th St. Pl. Anyone interested in receiving a coat or jacket is invited to come at that time and pick out whatever is needed.
