DODGE CITY — Catholic Social Service will hosting a four-part workshop series for couples in southwest Kansas who would like to know more about what it takes to adopt an infant.
The first three workshops take place from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Sept. 20, Oct. 3 and Oct. 11, and will address such topics as fears, definitions, what to expect and legal issues. The final workshop on Oct. 26 runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cathedral, and will feature a panel of individuals and couples sharing from their stories of open adoption. Lunch will be provided at the final workshop.
“It is very important for us as an agency to hold the adoption workshops every fall and spring as we are always in need of adoptive families,” said workshop facilitator Amy Falcon. “There is a perception that there are too many families wanting to adopt but this is just not the case. Our goal is to find families for the children who need homes.”
As part of a national Catholic Charity network that has been looking after the needs of children, parents and families for more than 100 years, Catholic Social Service is licensed by the State of Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and has been providing adoption services in southwest Kansas for more than 45 years.
