“Wordless Walking Sticks” from the Fellowship of Christian Farmers booth were a popular freebie last week at the 2014 Great Bend Farm & Ranch Expo.
Marlyn and Mavis Kaufman from Russell volunteered at the booth. They attend Faith Community Church in Great Bend.
Marlyn said the sticks are made at the Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch in Lampe, Mo., near Branson.
A tag provided with the walking sticks explains the meaning of beads on an attached leather cord. A gold bead represents heaven, a dark bead for sin, red for the blood of Christ, white for purity/forgiveness and green for spiritual growth.
Scriptures and a website for more information (www.fcfi.org) were included.
The vision of the international ministry is to encourage Christian farm families and agricultural professionals to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior around the world. At the Farm Expo, members collected donations to rebuild fences destroyed in 2013 by Hurricane Ike in Texas, and by recent flooding in North Dakota.
