Domincan Sisters to show free movie, 'The Big Year'

Dominican Sisters of the Plains will show the 2011 motion picture, “The Big Year” at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, April 26 at the Heartland Center for Spirituality, 3600 Broadway Ave.
This free screening is part of the Sisters’ “Movies with a Message” series and is open to the public. In this comedy picture, two bird enthusiasts try to defeat the cocky, cutthroat world record holder in a year-long bird-spotting competition.
 The Heartland Center for Spirituality is also taking registrations for a Bird-lovers Outing that will take place Saturday, April 27. Participants will meet at the center at 8 a.m. for a bird-watching excursion to the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area.
Deadline for registration is Friday, April 19. The $40 overnight rate includes room Friday night with breakfast and lunch on Saturday; $20 commuter rate includes Saturday breakfast and lunch. To register call 620-792-1230 or e-mail: office@heartlandspirituality.org.
