WASHINGTON – People from across the country rallied in Washington on Thursday to celebrate and protect the lives of the unborn in our nation, Rep. Tim Huelskamp said. The Kansas Republican joined pro-life supporters at the March for Life, again promising to support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, H.R. 36.
“I am eager to be joined by concerned citizens from across the country as we Rally for Life in Washington at the 42nd March for Life,” Huelskamp stated prior to the rally.
“My wife Angela and I have been active in the pro-life cause, because it is the right thing to do. But also as parents of four children by adoption, the issue is close to our hearts. As the Republican Whip of the Pro-Life Caucus, I am privileged to play a role in encouraging other representatives to advance legislation that protects the unborn and promotes adoption.
“In the last Congress, I supported the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, but it was blocked by then-Leader Harry Reid. Today, we have a new Congress with Republican majorities in both the House and the Senate. I pray that Republicans will pass this bill by voting with their constituents and defending the sacred right to life.”
The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act passed the House on Thursday by a vote of 242 to 179.
