The First Church of the Nazarene and One Hope Ministries will host a Kent Henry Worship Weekend, “Fanning the Flame of Worship,” Feb. 5 and 6 at the church located at 4811 Broadway Ave., Great Bend.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Friday in time for praise and worship led by Kent Henry at 7 p.m. Returning Saturday morning, Henry will teach about love, intimacy and encountering God in worship from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by another evening of praise and worship beginning at 6 p.m.
For over 35 years, Kent Henry’s ministry has been devoted to worship leading and training. He says the Lord gave him this instruction: “Kent, teach My Body how to intermingle praise with prayer and worship with intercession.”
The reason that we worship is because of love, and the reason that we pray is because of love. If God’s people, who love to worship and love His presence, ever learned to combine their worship with intercession there would be explosive results for the greater glory of God.
One of Kent’s greatest desires is to see the majority of the American Church praying at a much higher level. “To be very clear, one of our greatest weaknesses is the lack of prayer, intercession, devotion to Jesus and deeper worship in both church leadership and the congregations themselves.”
This is the time we must grow the devotional life of everyday believers, flowing in deeper worship and greater prayer. This is a high priority in the heart of the Lord.  And there is exponential power available whenever we merge worship, prayer and music together.
Of super importance in everything we are doing is “Singing and Praying the Word of God.” God’s Word will not return void or empty. So we center all that we do around the Bible. Hopefully we are sensing an urgency to get busy with Jesus in the ministry He is currently doing.
“He ever lives to make intercession (Hebrews 7:25).”
We must awaken.
“Take heed, watch and pray.”
Henry has held various positions on church staffs and developed a successful itinerate ministry. He has led worship on six of Integrity Music’s Hosanna! Recordings, including: All Hail King Jesus, My Refuge, and The Secret Place.  He has also produced 22 of his own worship recordings, including: Captivated, Jeremiah 29:11, Children Worship! The Psalm Series, and History Maker. Many of these capture the live atmosphere and power of God’s people encountering Him through worship and prayer. In addition, Kent has produced many albums for other artists, churches and worship leaders, including his son-in-law and daughter.
He holds a B.A. degree in Music, Religion and Management from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He resides with his wife and three children and five grandchildren in St. Louis. His longevity in ministry experience in the gamut of church settings, and personal journey with the Lord have given him great insight into how to flow in Heaven’s stream with worship, prayer and music.
