'Life is Beautiful' showing Friday

The 1997 motion picture, “Life is Beautiful,” will be shown at 6:15 p.m. Friday, March 27, as part of the Heartland Center for Spirituality’s latest series of “Movies with a Message.”  The movie begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, 3600 Broadway Ave. A freewill offering will be accepted to offset the cost of refreshments.  
Set in 1930s Italy, “Life is Beautiful” is about a Jewish man who has a wonderful romance with the help of his humour, but later must use that same quality to protect his son in a Nazi concentration camp. Roberto Benigni directed, cowrote and starred in the movie, which won Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Actor and Best Original Dramatic Score. Run time is 1 hour 56 min.
The next movie in the series will be “Evan Almighty” on April 24.
