The Barton County Association of Churches announces the schedule for 2013 Lenten Luncheons. The purpose of these weekly ecumenical gatherings is to provide an opportunity to gather for personal reflection and spiritual growth during the Lenten season, and to experience fellowship with one another.
The luncheons begin serving at noon – not earlier – and end at 1 p.m.; they are offered on six consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 20. Freewill offerings will be taken at each luncheon to defray the expenses of the host congregation. The public is invited to attend all of the luncheons.
The schedule is as follows:
Feb. 20 - Trinity Lutheran Church, 2701 24th St., the Rev. Jim Strassen, host pastor; speaker, Dr. Kevin Baxter, Foundry Methodist Church.
Feb. 27 - Grace Community Church, 210 McKinley St., the Rev. Jay Beuoy, host pastor; speaker, the Rev. Sandy Kennedy, Faith Community Church.
March 6 - First Christian Church, 5230 Broadway Ave., the Rev. Bill Johnson, host pastor; speaker, the Rev. Jim Strasen, Trinity Lutheran Church.
March 13 - Foundry Methodist Church, 5401 Broadway Ave., Dr. Kevin and the Rev. Jana Baxter, host pastors; speaker, the Rev. Dwight Dozier, Assembly of God Church.
March 20 - Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Parish Center, 4100 Broadway Ave., the Rev. Reggie Urban, host pastor; speaker, the Rev. Sandy Kennedy, Faith Community Church.
March 27 - First United Methodist Church, 2123 Forest Ave., the Rev. Lennie Maxwell, host pastor; speaker, the Rev. Leroy Keith, First Baptist Church.
