LINDSBORG — Bethany College and Bethany House of Studies are presenting An Evening with the Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Burnett Center, Bethany College, Lindsborg.
Pastor Bolz-Weber, a featured keynote speaker at the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering, is the founding pastor of House for All Sinners and Saints, an ELCA mission church in Denver, Colorado. In fact, she is a bit of a Lutheran “rock star.” She is the author of “Salvation on the Small Screen? 24 Hours of Christian Television” (Seabury, 2008) and blogs at www.sarcasticlutheran.com and Jim Wallis’ www.Godspolitics.com.
Her writings can be found in Christian Century, The Lutheran magazine and patheos.com. Her theological memoir, “Pastrix: the Cranky, Beautiful Faith of a Sinner & Saint” (Jericho, 2013), made the New York Times best seller list.
What she and her church are trying to do, she says, is simple and radical: “create an authentic Christian experience without the pretension that can come with church.” What people want, she says, “is a spiritual community that’s beautiful and transformative and maybe even transgressive — and that’s not what you find in most churches.”
All are welcome. There is no charge.
