• Critter Ministries will sponsor an evening of praise and worship – accompanied with a light show, strobes, lasers and CO2 cannons – at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Barton County 4-H Building, located between Great Bend and Hoisington at 601 North U.S. 281.
• St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galatia will hold a homemade ice cream social from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29. Ice cream will be served and freewill donations will be accepted for homemade pies, cakes and cookies. Donations will be used for programs such as Christmas charities, Kans for Kids, Military Moms, disaster relief and the Family Crisis Center.
• The King United Methodist Church of Great Bend, located at 1608 Odell Street, will welcome its new pastor, Laurie White, along with her husband Phillip, with a reception on Sunday, Sept. 29, after the morning worship. The public is invited to visit the church and welcome the Whites. Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, praise and fellowship is at 10:50 a.m. and the morning worship starts at 11 a.m.
• The Presbyterian Women group in Great Bend is selling Schermer’s Pecans from Georgia, in one-pound packages of halves and pieces and 10 ounce specialty packages. Orders can be placed with any Presbyterian Woman or by calling the church office, 792-2594.
• First United Methodist Church, 2123 Forest Ave., is having a special guest Sunday on the 29th. Members are reminded to bring their guests. Anyone seeking a church home is invited to Welcome Home Sunday. Services are at 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.
