On Monday, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office received calls from individuals in rural Great Bend and rural Pawnee Rock, both reporting attempted fraud via telephone scams.
One person was told the Internal Revenue Service was going to charge her with tax evasion or fraud, while the other received a call from someone with a 206 area code (Washington state) promising him money.
In each instance, no money was lost so no criminal case was taken.
