Shelly Schneider, Barton County Health director and local health officer, resigned Friday afternoon, Barton County Clerk Donna Zimmerman said.

Karen Winkelman, Barton County Health Department public health nurse supervisor and deputy local health officer is acting Health Director, Zimmerman said.  Winkelman has 23 years experience with the Barton County Health Department as a nurse and supervisor.  

“We appreciate Schneider’s service to Barton County,” Zimmerman said. 

Schneider was scheduled to address the Barton County Commission Monday meeting as the Barton County Board of Health for a coronavirus update.
