Second suspect arrested in May 21 shooting incident

The Great Bend Police Department and other agencies responded to a shooting incident in the 3900 block of Forest Ave on May 21. Although the suspects were gone when officers arrived, they were able to quickly ascertain the identities of the suspects, build a case, and obtain warrants for the arrest of the two suspects involved in the shooting.
On June 11 one suspect Pablo Nunez was arrested, booked and confined in lieu of bond at the Barton County Jail.
Since then, the Great Bend Police Department has continued efforts to ensure that the second suspect Alejandro Azteca was brought to justice.
Officers obtained information indicating that Azteca had possibly fled to Minnesota. In pursuit of these leads, officers have been working with law enforcement authorities in Mower County and Dodge County, Minn. in an attempt to locate and apprehend the second suspect.
On August 17 Azteca was arrested in Dodge County, Minn. where he is presently confined in lieu of bond and refusing extradition.
