Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir is not demanding that area residents pay Internal Revenue Service warrants, and any calls folks receive to this effect are a scam.
Bellendir said someone is calling Barton County citizens and identifying himself as the sheriff. The caller tells the citizen pay IRS tax warrants or the sheriff would come and arrest them immediately. “This is a scam. The Sheriff’s Office does not collect, nor arrest, for IRS tax warrants,” Bellendir said.
