Friday evening officers of the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to the 2500 block of Williams St. for a possible shooting.
Upon arrival first responders located a man that was shot. Efforts to revive the man failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time it appears the shooting was the result of an argument. The police department has a suspect in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
Investigators have no reason to believe that any other suspects are involved, and there is no further threat to the public.
Although the investigation is being led by the Great Bend Police Department, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Barton County Sheriff’s Office are also assisting the investigation. The Great Bend Fire/EMS and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in the initial process.
Anyone who may have witness this incident is requested to contact the Great Bend Police Department Unit at 620-793-4120.
