Shooting death occurs in Stafford

According to the Stafford Police Department, on March 10, at 11:04 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence located at 306 N. Keystone in the City of Stafford to a male gunshot victim.
When the first officer arrived on scene he made contact with the female of the home identified as Misty R. Salem, 35 years of age who was hysterically shouting she shot him.
The officer asked where the weapon was and she replied in the yard. A second officer on the scene recovered the weapon and took custody of it. That officer then placed her into custody and placed her in a patrol unit.
EMS crews arrived and checked the victim identified as Samuel B. Salem, 41, of the home, who was on the living room floor and had suffered one gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was called to investigate the scene while Stafford officers protected the perimeter.
Misty R. Salem, 35 was transported to the Barton County Jail to be interviewed and later was booked on a charge of second-degree murder with a $1 million bond.
There were two children of the home and one had left with a grandparent just prior to the incident.
As of this time the children have been placed with family.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and other agencies that have assisted are the Stafford County Sheriff’s Deptartment and the St. John Police Department.
