The Golden Belt Community Concert Association will present “Simply Sinatra” as its first concert of the season. The show features Steve Lippia, accompanied by a 10-piece big band, singing many of the songs made popular by Frank Sinatra. Lippia is noted for blending classic and contemporary styles in his music. The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Great Bend Municipal Auditorium, Lakin and Stone.
This GBCCA event is available to concert association members. Full-time students will be admitted to the concert for a $5 donation at the door by showing their school I.D. The auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m. Season memberships are still available. For more information, contact Linda Jerke, 620-793-9440.
Lippia has performed for standing-room-only crowds at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in New York City backed by the Nelson Riddle and Woody Herman orchestras and has made numerous Las Vegas appearances and national tours. Lippia is noted for his ability to mesmerize audiences with his own interpretations of jazz standards as well as songs off the contemporary charts.
He may be best known, however, for his tributes to Old Blue Eyes in the songs of that legendary entertainer. His show introduces this timeless music to a new generation while still appealing to longtime listeners.
