The October meeting of the Sons of the Plains chapter the Sons of the American Revolution will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the American Legion Argonne Post 180, 1011 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend. Member Stan Jantz from Hoisington said the group normally meets in Hutchinson and will only be meeting once in Great Bend this year.
Jantz said the meeting is expected to last about an hour and will include a genealogy talk.
The Sons of the American Revolution is the leading male genealogy organization in the United States. Each member has traced his family tree back to a point of having an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.
The area chapter encourages historical research and sponsors an annual essay contest and other educational endeavors.
