Special Olympics Kansas Polar Plunge dates set for 2018
1-Tribune

MISSION — Kansans looking for an extreme adventure with plenty of fun may want to be part be of a Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. Polar Plunges will take place during January, February and March at 11 locations in the state. The cool events raise money for Special Olympics athletes in Kansas to train and compete in sports and receive basic health screenings.
The Polar Plunge is organized much like a walk-a-thon. Participants will get donations from people who sponsor them to brave the icy water. They may jump as individuals or as a member of a team. Although each participant must raise a minimum of $75 to plunge, the average plunger raised more than $116 in 2017. Plungers who raise the minimum of $75 will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt. Raise more and earn incentive prizes.
In addition to the Polar Plunge some locations also host a certified 5K Strut, or fun runs/walks.
