Spray family plans donation to BCC
BCC courgar-head

The Kip and Kelly Spray Family Strength Training Center at Barton Community College is sure to bear that name until at least 2034, and another $25,000 gift from the Sprays may extend the “facilities naming contract” through 2037.
Discussion of the proposed addendum to the contract is on the agenda for this month’s BCC Board of Trustees study session, and approval is recommended for the regular board meeting. The two meetings are usually scheduled for the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, respectively, but have been combined this month due to scheduling issues.

The board will hold its September study session followed by the regular board of trustees meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Room F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building.
Other study session topics include the July financial statement, Ellinwood interlocal agreement, a report on the Higher Learning Commission’s evaluation, faculty load and compensation (FLAC), BartOnline website redesign and the trustee retreat. Other action items for the business meeting include the Ellinwood interlocal agreement and personnel.

There will also be a strategic planning report and a monitor report on “Essential Skills.” Under the board guiding policies known as “ends,” Barton students will acquire the skills needed to be successful for the program they are in:
• Students will have the essential skills to succeed in the workplace.
• Students will have the essential skills to lead productive lives.
• Students will be provided remediation as needed.
