The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, May 22, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Commissioner Wycoff called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Commissioners Todd Wycoff, Jim Stanford, and Bryce Garner, and Dion Lefler, Wichita Eagle.

Robert Murrow, Sheriff, joined the meeting to present his 2025 budget for the Sheriff’s Office. He is requesting $878,372, up from $830,928 from 2024. This change is mostly due to the rising costs of inmate housing and vehicle expenses. He also presented a Juvenile Detention budget which presented no changes.

Commissioner Garner moved to recess into executive session for five minutes pursuant to Attorney-Client Privilege to discuss incidents with an outside agency. Commissioner Stanford seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0, Those present: Commissioners, Attorney, Sheriff, and Deputy Clerk. In at 8:43 a.m., out at 8:48 a.m.

Vanessa Cornwell joined the meeting to present a Motor Vehicle stipend increase for Triston Long of $172 a month. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded to approve the stipend increase. Motion carried 3-0.

Commissioner Garner moved to approve the minutes from the May 15, meeting. Commissioner Stanford seconded. Motion carried 3-0.

Dion Lefler, Wichita Eagle, then discussed with the Commissioners and Attorney the cancellation of the Annex space holding a presentation by Ms. Lockridge. He was advised that the Commissioners decided to cancel use due to the misrepresentation of the type and extent of the material she was presenting.

Mike Sanders and Gina Schwein, Emergency Management, presented a quote for contracted radio and siren maintenance for TBS Electronics, Inc. This will be a cost of $300 monthly, and will be split between the Emergency Management, Sheriff, Fire, and EMS departments. They advised the Commission on current work ongoing with TBS and some of the siren maintenance they’ve already done and the costs of that. Commissioner Garner moved and Commissioner Stanford seconded to approve the agreement split 25% each between the departments. They also presented their 2025 budget.

Representatives with the Stafford County Hospital joined to present their 2025 budget to the Commissioners. They went over a few statistics of service for the Hospital, and updated the Commissioners on how things are going at the Hospital.

Commissioner Garner moved and Commissioner Stanford seconded to approve Jim Petrik for mowing services at Taylorville Cemetery for $200 per mow. Motion carried 3-0.
