Stafford County Spelling Bee scheduled Wednesday

STAFFORD — Students from Stafford, St. John and Macksville schools will compete in the 2015 Stafford County Spelling Bee at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Stafford’s south gym.
Qualifiers advance to the 2015 Sunflower Spelling Bee at March 7 at the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center at Fort Hays State University.
“We urge parents and other interested family members to attend,” said Carrisa Hearn, Spelling Bee coordinator.
Stafford students competing are fourth graders Josh Hildebrand, Brooklyn Richardson, Truth Mooney and alternate Ashton Harter; fifth graders Alexia Morgan, Makayla Sedore, Trevor Stout and alternate Zoe Weston; sixth graders Kleyton Schreiber, Sebastian Dickson, Hannah Simmons and alternate Jayce Hildebrand; seventh graders Carson Richardson, Dylan Green, Ethan Hildebrand and alternate Jaron Brittain; and eighth graders Cayden Brozek, Sage Sheets, Katie Strobel and alternate Caleb Hildebrand.
St. John students competing will be fourth graders Canon Lauffer, Jade Portillo, Conner Gillespie and alternate Paige Mansel; fifth graders Kaylynn Claussen, Tristan Olive, Baylee Lauffer, alternate Kimbra Dowling; sixth graders Emma Engel, Jonathan Lyon, Madison Brown and alternate Edwin Fernandez; seventh graders Erin Crissman, Riley McCandless, Jonathan Villanueva and alternate A.J. Miller; and eighth graders Ethan Huston, Jordan Willinger-James, Nick DeVeney and alternate Kandis Williamson.
Macksville students participating are fourth graders Madison Butler, Mariela Jacquez, Tony Rector and alternate Justin Frink; fifth graders Fabian Ortiz, Alorha Freeman, Emma Hottovy and alternate Katie Ponce; sixth graders Alex Rodriguez, Emma Sanders, Kirby Sebes and alternate Miriam Jacquez; seventh graders Ian Lawrence, Clayton Aquirre, Gabe Wolf and alternate Simon Acosta; and eighth graders Nicole Haberman, Darien Miller, Parker Rodriguez and alternate Pablo Sandoval.
