A stolen book was used to start a ditch fire in rural Barton County on Tuesday, law enforcement officers report.
A woman reported losing a binder Sunday morning after stopping at Casey’s General Store, 1315 10th St. She told police she may have set it on top of her vehicle while she was at the store, and then drove off.
Tuesday afternoon, around 3:45 p.m., she reported that her debit card had been stolen and someone had used it.
At 6:49 p.m., a motorist reported a grass fire in the 200 block of NE 120 Road. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Hoisington Fire Department responded and found the missing binder, which had been burned.
