The City of Great Bend is excited to announce that “Street Rodding – American Style” will be coming to Great Bend during the Party in the Park event on Aug. 8th. “Street Rodding – American Style” is a reality TV show whose crew travels to towns across the Midwest to see and enjoy car shows in different communities and to view street rodding at its purest form. “Street Rodding – American Style” focuses on the creativity of these incredible works of art and the stories behind them. The reality show truly spotlights the cars in attendance and the event itself. An important part of their mission is to showcase the automobiles to help keep the passion for street rodding alive. The reality TV show is aired on both PBS and Cox Kansas 22.
Great Bend Community Coordinator Christina Hayes said, “We are so excited that Great Bend will be featured on this show!” The Party in the Park Car Show will host over 100 cars during the event. “Not only is Party in the Park a great event for the community, but we really do have a beautiful showcase of cars that come from right here in Great Bend. The whole day is fun for the whole family!” The car show will be held from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Awards will be given to 40 cars in attendance, picked from citizens of the community, as well as a special Pontiac award.
This will be the 3rd Annual Party in the Park hosted by the City of Great Bend. The day features fun for the whole family in addition to the car show with the Tuff Enuff Obstacle Run, Oozefest Mud Volleyball, Dog Park Fun and Demonstrations, The Barton County Business Olympics Faceoff, Oreo Eating Contest, Face Painting, Take a Kid to a Car Show Coloring Contest, Optimist Fun Zone, Concert and Fireworks.
“Street Rodding – American Style” will be filming their reality TV show during the Party in the Park car show, which will be held at Veterans Park, and will also be filming during other events that will take place during the Party in the Park event. The show will be aired at a later date, but the date is unknown at this time. The City of Great Bend invites you to come out Aug. 8, to enjoy the car show and the rest of the Party in the Park events.
