Sisters of Hope, a new support group for recently widowed women, is planning an informational “meet and greet.” It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 in the Fireside Room at First Assembly of God Church, 601 S. Patton Road in Great Bend.
Sisters of Hope is an outreach ministry of the church, for women of all denominations. The meetings are focused on bringing hope and purpose to recently widowed women through a Christian curriculum and interaction with other women facing similar challenges. There is no cost associated with this group, as all materials are provided through voluntary donations to Sisters of Hope.
Organizers Marilyn Beary and Stacy Bouse say God called them to begin this ministry in 2013. Having suffered the loss of their own husbands, they realize that when one is grieving, it may be difficult to reach out to friends or loved ones.
“We believe there is a great need for recently widowed women in our community to have an opportunity to come together in a loving and safe environment,” according to a statement from Beary and Bouse.
“The founding Sisters of Hope group first met in December, 2013 and celebrated its completion on Sept. 11, 2014. We were humbled to watch tears and sadness turn to smiles and laughter as God began to heal hearts in very personal ways. Wonderful friendships were formed through this ministry and, through God’s word, these courageous women have been equipped with the tools to move forward with hope and purpose in their lives.”

“If you would like to attend this informational meeting, please let us know so we may send you a personalized invitation,” Beary said. “If you know of someone who may benefit from this ministry or you would like additional information, please contact us.”
