Thirty-seven educators times two days times six hours equals a whole lot of numbers – 444 to be exact. That’s how many hours Great Bend USD 428 teachers, math coaches and administrators logged this week during the NUMBERS Training at the District Education Center.
“NUMBERS is an interactive, hands-on mathematics professional development offering for math teachers,” explained Tricia Reiser, director of teaching and learning.
“Teachers are basically learning about the science of teaching math and how to integrate numbers content and strategies into the adopted Envision math series instruction,” Reiser said.
“Integrating findings from the most current research, NUMBERS incorporates numerous strategies and best practices that meet expectations of rigorous state standards,” she said. “We appreciate teachers who attended the training and their commitment to improving our teaching and learning of math.”
The national presenter was Cristy Humphries. Teachers had the opportunity to take the 12 hours of training for up to two college credits.
