STAFFORD — I am excited to announce that Nancy HIldebrand is going to lead a watercolor workshop on Friday Jan. 30th. This workshop is for those who would like to try watercolor and also those who are accomplished with watercolor. I like the way Nancy said, “No experience needed just come to enjoy, relax, create and share good company. A calm, welcoming place to unwind.”

All supplies are furnished and you will leave with a finished framed creation. Cost is $15 to cover supplies and the class will be limited to 10 participants. Call Larabee at 620-234-5762. Good cure for Cabin Fever!

We have been thankful to receive many books from Joe Fritzemeyer and his late wife Jean. The books include many fiction, religious and political authors. Joe’s collection of Western authors has inspired us to make a section devoted to the ever popular Western.

Josh, my grandson, has cleaned out his elementary book collection of “Easy Chapter books”. Now we have over 100 chapter books including series like Magic Tree House, Merlin Missions, Geronimo Stilton, Boxcar Children and many others. These are fun stories to read as bedtime stories and as your children get older they are a nice introduction to chapter books.

Sandy and I have been busy sorting and cataloging all these new books as well as switching out the Rotation books from SCKLS. We have also received six new computer chairs and a new cabinet from a grant for New Programming from SCKLS. Of course assembly is required, so it will be a busy week getting all these tasks done before we can start moving furniture.

I am working on having Jennifer Gleason come and give a program on AI/ ChatGPT. AI is here and we need to know how to recognize when it has been used and how to make our life easier by the correct use of it. We haven’t decided on a date yet, but stay tuned for more information.

I am looking forward to Recently Read this Tuesday night. We didn’t meet during December and we are all looking forward to “Talking Books and Authors”. I have a variety of books to talk about from Israel, to Fred Harvey and Marilyn Monroe. I have heard from others about the exciting books they are going to share.
