It all started when a few local artists realized they shared the same sign of the Zodiac: Aquarius.

Friendly, humanitarian, honest, loyal, original, inventive, independent and intellectual are all traits that have been assigned to Aquarians. The lineup has changed over the years, and one or two people born under other signs have slipped in, but "The Aquarians" enjoy meeting once a month to share ideas.

Works by the five current members, Mary Lee Adams, Esther Maher, Elaine Pugh, Bev Simonson and Barb Unrein, are on display this month in the Fine Arts Room of the Great Bend Public Library, 1409 Williams St. A reception for their exhibition, "A Fall Showing," was held Sunday at the library.

Simonson said their is the third show that The Aquarians have had as a group. She are also scheduled to have an exhibit at the Deines Cultural Center at Russell in June and July of 2012. "So that will keep us ‘painting and potting.’"
