Three people, including a 4-year-old boy, were injured when vehicles collided at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, south of Hoisington on U.S. 281, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports.
A southbound 2011 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Emily Marie Adams, 28, of Hoisington, struck a 1997 Ford Ranger driven by Eric S. Adams, 42, of St. John, who was also southbound.
Anthony Jordan Otano Jr., 4, was a passenger in the car. He was not wearing a seat belt and the investigation showed Emily Adams was distracted because of that and did not see the pickup turning into the Roto-Mix plant. The boy was flung from the back seat to the front passenger compartment, where he sustained unknown injuries. He was taken by private vehicle to Great Bend Regional Hospital. Ms. Adams was not injured.
Eric S. Adams and passenger Jason Lee Roy Goodale, 39, of Great Bend, were transported to the Clara Barton Hospital with unknown injuries.
The BCSO was assisted by the Hoisington Police Department and Hoisington EMS.
