Melinda Kurth, a financial representative with Thrivent Financial in Great Bend is challenging others in the community to get involved and live generously.
Melinda hosted a Chamber Coffee to kick off her assistance in helping local nonprofits with the Box of Love campaign. All those who donated to the Box of Love through Thrivent received a “Live Generously” t-shirt. Box of Love was spearheaded by United Way of Central Kansas, working with ElderCare Home Services and Meals on Wheels to provide a Valentine’s Day treat to home bound seniors in Great Bend, with hopes of expanding it next year. These boxes will include a homemade Valentine’s Day card from children at Great Bend Children’s Learning Center, Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, Teen Court, and Caring Hands Daycare. There is still time to donate to Box of Love at numerous locations. Check out the United Way Facebook page or website, uwck.org, to learn more.
Thrivent Action Teams are an easy way Thrivent members can quickly identify a need in their community, receive resources, and put a plan together to take action on causes they care about. It’s a way members can fulfill Thrivent’s purpose which is to serve members and society by guiding both to be wise with money and to live generously.
“I am proud to be able to serve our community. We are making a difference where we live, work and worship and I’m grateful for Thrivent’s support,” said Melinda Kurth.
Thrivent Action Teams are just one of the ways Thrivent members participate in their membership. They lead projects - fundraisers, one-time service activities or educational events - that can be completed within 90 days.
