The Tourism Division of the Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks, and Tourism is hitting the road to conduct a series of workshops across the state during the week of July 8.  The state’s six tourism professional staff will begin their week with a workshop in Scott City on July 8, Great Bend on July 9, Emporia on July 10, and Overland Park on July 11.
This tourism road show will cover a vast array of information including the roll out of the new “Tourism U” handbook along with presentation of the 2015 co-op opportunities as well as updates from the state tourism division office.  There will be an opportunity to meet one-on-one with state staff to assist tourism related businesses with marketing plans or to answer questions on the program that the state office administers.
The workshop can explain how the state tourism office can help promote a tourism entity, how to get an agritourism business registered, how to get signs on the highway, and how to work with group tours. The “Kansas Tourism & You” workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at the Perkins Meeting Room in Great Bend.  There is no cost to attend the workshop, participants need to RSVP online at www.travelks.com/industry/education/tourism-roadshow/
“We are very pleased to be hosting this regional workshop in Great Bend”, said Loren Unruh, Chairman of the Great Bend Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “Partnering with the state and taking their recommended regional approach to tourism are priority items for the Bureau.  We hope that everyone involved in the tourism arena will take advantage of this opportunity.”
