Two juvenile males were arrested on theft and property damage charges early last Thursday morning after admitting to stealing a vehicle during a traffic stop, Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark said.
At about 12:02 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, an officer with the Great Bend Police Department made a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup truck in the 900 block of Morton Street. The vehicle was occupied by two male juveniles, he said.
During the traffic, stop the driver admitted that they had stolen the pickup from a property near Odin. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office contacted the victim, who confirmed that the truck was stolen, he said.
Further, it was determined that the juveniles had also burglarized a farm house near where the truck had been parked and caused extensive damage.
The juveniles were arrested, transported to the Barton County Jail and booked in lieu of bond. The pickup was released to the owner.
