On Oct. 27, around 7 p.m., Barton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to U.S. 281 and K-4 west junction, to a reported motor vehicle accident. Upon investigation deputies determined a 2006 Buick Lucerne, driven by Betty J. Poppelreiter was driving south on U.S. 281. Poppelreiter began to turn east on K-4 prior to yielding to oncoming traffic.
