United Way contributions on commission agenda

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes United Way of Central Kansas employee contributions, the Rural Opportunity Zone Student Loan Repayment Program, the final costs of the Redwing intersection improvement project. and the purchase of land near the county’s sandpit.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 10:15 a.m. or following the close of the agenda meeting – department head meeting with the commission. 

• 11:15 a.m. – review of the IAP Grant – Health Director Karen Winkelman and Grant Coordinator Sue Cooper.

• 11:30 a.m. – longevity pay and premium pay – Finance Officer Matt Patzner and Cooper. 

• 11:45 a.m. – renewal of the Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway website agreement – Cartographer Bj Wooding. 

• 1 p.m. – program Update – Soil Conservation Service.

• 1:15 p.m. – ARPA water infrastructure needs – Barton County Rural Water District No. 1 and Russell County Rural Water District No. 3.

• 2 p.m. – meeting with Knop Sand.

• 2:30 p.m. – review of the Solid Waste Management Plan and ratification of  equipment repairs – Solid Waste Director Phil Hathcock. 

• 2:45 p.m. – county counselor contract discussions – County Counselor Patrick Hoffman.

• 3 p.m. – RFP for 800mhz Radios – Doug Hubbard, Claflin Fire District.

• 3:15 p.m. – regular business discussion – Interim County Administrator Barry McManaman and County Clerk Donna Zimmerman.
