School calendars for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 will be approved when the Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.
Calendars were discussed last month and are expected to be approved at this “second reading.” The second reading of policy revisions suggested by the Kansas Association of School Boards is also on the agenda.
New business includes 2019-2020 E-Rate funding; purchase of 1,100 Chromebooks and 150 iPads; and approval to release bids for flooring at Lincoln and Jefferson schools. Great Bend High School Principal Tim Friess will present details on a study comparing a seven-period schedule versus eight-period schedule. The board will also hear a presentation on the next curriculum adoption: high school and middle school English language arts.
