HOISINGTON — The USD 431 Board of Education met their second candidate for the superintendent position to be vacated by Bill Lowry upon his retirement at the end of the school year. Dr. Kelly Arnberger interviewed for the position Wednesday evening.
Candidates were selected for interviews based on their fit with desired characteristics that were developed with input from focus groups that were utilized throughout the search process.
Dr. Arnberger is currently serving as superintendent in USD 482, Dighton, where he also serves as the Pre K-6 principal. He is in his third year in that position. Previously, Dr. Arnberger served as superintendent of USD 459, Bucklin for four years.
He met with the district office staff and district administrators from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then toured the district facilities and community from 1 to 3:45 p.m.
The public was invited to visit with Langdon during a reception for district staff and the general public at the Hoisington High School Commons from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dr. Arnberger dined with the board from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a formal interview with the board in executive session from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
A third candidate is expected to be announced as soon as an interview are confirmed.
