Two Ellinwood residents were injured Friday afternoon when a utility task vehicle (UTV) was hit by another vehicle, 6 miles east of Ellinwood on U.S. 56.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at 1:20 p.m. Ashly Reichuber, 21, of Ellinwood was driving a Bush Hog UTV in the north ditch, headed west. Abbie Reichuber, 19, was a passenger. They were not wearing seat belts.
A Nissan U.S. Consulate of the United Mexican State vehicle driven by Fernando Vega, 52, of Kansas City, Mo., was westbound on the highway. As Reichuber attempted to make a left turn onto First Road, the Nissan struck the UTV on the driver side. Both of the Reichubers were taken to Ellinwood Hospital with unknown injuries.
Vega and his passenger were wearing seat belts and were not injured. The Nisssan was removed by Marshalls Towing & Recovery, Great Bend.
