Sheriff Brian Bellendir reports vandals opened the valves on three oil lease stock tanks in rural Barton County, causing the release of approximately 188 barrels of oil. The crime occurred sometime between 1 p.m. on Friday, July 18, and 8:25 a.m. on Saturday in the 800 block of SW 10 Road. Bellendir called the vandalism a “senseless act” and said loss is expected to exceed $12,000.
