An injury accident was reported at 3:34 p.m. Sunday on East U.S. 56 and SE 90 Ave. According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, a Dodge Journey driven by Rodney A. Drake, 37, Great Bend, was westbound when it crossed the center line, nearly striking another vehicle, and left the roadway to the south. The vehicle struck the ditch, then struck the railroad tracks, crossed the tracks and rolled, coming to rest on its top and facing east.
Drake was examined by Ellinwood Emergency Medical Service and released at the scene.

The accident was still under investigation on Monday. BCSO reports Drake was wearing a seat belt. He was arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, circumvention of ignition interlock device, left of center and failure to maintain roadway. Bond was set at $2,500.
